ACM Symposium on Principles of Distributed Computing — 2027

PODC is the ACM symposium on the principles of distributed computing, and with DISC and SPAA forms the core of distributed computing theory. It covers consensus and agreement, fault tolerance, concurrent data structures, distributed graph algorithms, and the impossibility results that bound what distributed systems can do at all.

The 2027 edition is expected to run June 21 to 25 at Reykjavik University, with local organisation led by Magnus M. Halldorsson there alongside Maxime Flin and Alexandre Nolin.

Treat the dates as provisional. The organisers describe them as tentative, and the submission deadlines have not been published, so this is not yet something to book flights around.

One point of confusion worth heading off: Reykjavik University is not the University of Iceland. They are separate institutions about 1.7 km apart, and the University of Iceland also hosts conferences in its Askja building. PODC is at Reykjavik University, on Nautholsvegur about 2.4 km south of the centre, near the Nautholsvik geothermal beach. The hotels listed below are all central, roughly 2 to 3 km from campus, which is a walk or a short bus ride.

Late June is the best time to be in Iceland, with temperatures around 10 to 14C and effectively no darkness, though it is also peak season, so accommodation is expensive and books out early.
