Open Source Cybersecurity Privacy Hacking
The Chaos Communication Congress is the annual gathering of the Chaos Computer Club and the broader European hacker and open source community. Held every year in Hamburg over the final days of December, it is one of the largest technology and hacker conferences in the world, regularly drawing over 18,000 participants across four days of talks, workshops, self-organised assemblies, and art installations. The program covers security research, privacy and surveillance, digital rights, open hardware, networking, and an enormous range of community-run projects. Unlike most professional conferences, Congress is explicitly non-commercial and community-funded - there is no corporate hotel block, no official accommodation partner, and attendees are entirely on their own for finding somewhere to stay. This makes it one of the clearest cases where independent accommodation guidance is genuinely useful. Hamburg in late December is cold and busy; booking hotels well in advance is strongly recommended.
