HOPE - Hackers on Planet Earth - is one of the oldest and most community-oriented hacker conferences in the United States, held every two years in New York City and organised by 2600: The Hacker Quarterly. HOPE 2026 is the 17th edition and takes place at the New Yorker Hotel in Midtown Manhattan, August 14-16. The programme covers security research, privacy and surveillance, digital rights, phone phreaking history, free software, and a broad range of hacker culture topics. The atmosphere is non-corporate and grassroots - there is no official hotel block, and attendees are on their own for accommodation. Penn Station and multiple subway lines are directly across the street from the venue.
