Systems Operating Systems Computer Science

Covers memory-centric computing at scale, including CXL, memory pooling, and far-memory systems. CXL and memory pooling break the long-standing assumption that memory is local and uniform. The systems question is what software must change when some of your memory is an order of magnitude slower than the rest. Pooled memory also changes failure domains, since memory can now fail independently of the machine using it.
