Distributed Systems Theory Algorithms
DISC, the International Symposium on Distributed Computing, is the main European venue for the theory of distributed computing, covering consensus and agreement, fault tolerance, concurrent data structures, distributed graph algorithms, blockchain protocols and the impossibility results that define what distributed systems can and cannot do. It is the counterpart to PODC on the North American side, and together with SPAA the three form the core of the field’s theory track.
The 2026 edition is the 40th, running November 9 to 13 at the San Pietro in Vincoli campus of Sapienza University in Rome, with festivities marking four decades of the symposium. That venue sits in Monti near the Colosseum, and is the same site CIKM 2026 uses for its first two days earlier in November.
