Active Defense and Deception

AD&D: Workshop on Active Defense and Deception

In conjunction with
European Symposium on Research in Computer Security 2026
September 14-18, 2026
Sapienza University of Rome
Rome, Italy

Cybersecurity Privacy Cryptography Security Research

Covers honeypots, deception technologies, and active defense strategies. Deception flips the usual defensive posture: rather than only blocking attackers, defenders present false targets to detect, delay and study them. Topics include honeypot design, realistic decoys and measuring whether deception actually changes attacker behaviour. Legal and ethical limits also apply, since active defence shades into activity that may not be permissible in some jurisdictions.
