The USENIX Security Symposium is one of the four top-tier computer security venues alongside IEEE S&P, ACM CCS and NDSS, and is the most systems-oriented of them. It covers attacks and defences across operating systems, networks, hardware, cryptographic engineering, privacy and machine learning security, and has a strong practical and measurement tradition.
The 36th edition runs August 11 to 13, 2027 at the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center, so the conference is held inside a hotel and rooms there go first.
USENIX Security uses two submission cycles, and each has a mandatory registration step a week before the paper itself is due. For Cycle 1, registration closes August 18, 2026, papers are due August 25, 2026, and notifications go out December 3, 2026. For Cycle 2, registration closes January 19, 2027, papers are due January 26, 2027, and notifications go out May 6, 2027. Missing the registration deadline means you cannot submit in that cycle even if the paper is ready, which is the most common way authors lose a cycle here.
