The Privacy Enhancing Technologies Symposium is the main venue for research on privacy technology: anonymous communication, censorship resistance, differential privacy, private machine learning, tracking measurement and the policy questions around them.
The 27th edition runs July 19 to 24, 2027, organised by the TU Delft cybersecurity group. The specific venue has not been announced yet.
PETS does not work like most conferences. Papers go to Proceedings on Privacy Enhancing Technologies (PoPETs), a journal, through a rolling review process with four submission issues a year: 31 May 2026 (notified 1 August), 31 August 2026 (notified 1 November), 30 November 2026 (notified 1 February 2027) and 28 February 2027 (notified 1 May 2027). All four are marked firm. That means there is almost always a next deadline, but it also means the last chance to make the 2027 symposium is the February 2027 issue.
