ECIR is Europe’s premier information retrieval conference, the continent’s counterpart to SIGIR, with a strong tradition of student and reproducibility papers. It covers retrieval models, evaluation, recommendation, conversational search and the application of language models to search. It suits researchers earlier in their careers than SIGIR’s typical author, and the reproducibility track makes it one of the few venues where replicating someone else’s result is a publishable contribution in itself. Ranked A by CORE, with an acceptance rate of 23.0% in 2025. ECIR spreads submissions across seven separate dates rather than one, with full papers closing first and short papers, reproducibility papers, the doctoral consortium, demos, tutorials, industry and resource papers following over the following month, all sharing a single notification date.
