Data Mining Machine Learning

Covers data mining over spatial and spatiotemporal data, where observations are correlated across both space and time and standard independence assumptions fail. Topics include trajectory mining, spatiotemporal forecasting, geospatial representation learning, detecting spatial anomalies and hotspots, and applications across transport, environmental monitoring, epidemiology and urban planning. A recurring theme is that naive train-test splits leak information across neighbouring locations and adjacent time steps, which inflates reported accuracy in ways that do not survive deployment.
