Software Engineering Software Testing Program Analysis AI

Focuses on techniques for automatically finding and fixing software bugs, one of the longest-running threads in automated software engineering. Topics include test-driven repair, learning-based and language-model repair, fault localisation, and the persistent problem of patch overfitting, where a generated fix satisfies the test suite without actually correcting the underlying defect. That failure mode is why repair results are so sensitive to how thorough the tests were in the first place.
