The ACM SIGMOD Conference is one of the two flagship venues for database and data management research, alongside VLDB. It covers database systems, query processing and optimisation, data integration, storage, and the growing intersection of data management with machine learning, and it runs jointly with PODS, which covers the theoretical foundations. It suits researchers building and measuring systems, with the theory side served by the co-located PODS programme. Ranked A* by CORE, with an acceptance rate of 19.0% in 2024. SIGMOD reviews research papers in four rolling rounds rather than against a single annual deadline, and a round’s first notification can be accept, reject or revision, with a revision round and a second notification following; the industrial and demonstration tracks run on their own separate cycles.
