ShmooCon is an annual information security conference held in Washington DC, organised by the Shmoo Group and known for its deliberately limited attendance - tickets are distributed by lottery to preserve the community character. Around 2,000 security professionals attend each year for three days covering network security, offensive research, privacy, and applied cryptography, alongside a strong hallway track. The conference is held at the Washington Hilton in the Dupont Circle neighbourhood. The hotel fills with attendees quickly and many end up staying at nearby properties on Connecticut Avenue. The Dupont Circle Metro station on the Red Line is a short walk from the venue.
