FTA is an international workshop on testing, security analysis, verification and maintenance of firmware, meaning the low-level software running on laptops, servers, embedded systems, IoT devices, industrial controllers and critical infrastructure. Firmware is unusually hard to analyse because it is often closed source, tightly coupled to hardware, and difficult to instrument or emulate, yet a defect there undermines everything running above it. The workshop brings together researchers and practitioners working on tools and techniques for this layer.
