Explores how large vision-language models and foundation models can be integrated with robotics to make autonomous systems more generalizable and instructable. The appeal is instructability, telling a robot what to do in language rather than programming it, and the obstacle is that foundation models are confidently wrong in ways that are tolerable in text and dangerous in a physical system.
