Italy’s largest technical university, founded in 1863, with its main campus in the Citta Studi district about 3 km east of the Duomo and served by metro M2 at Piola. It hosts RE 2027. Its alumni and faculty include Giulio Natta, awarded the 1963 Nobel Prize in Chemistry for his work on polymers, the architects Gio Ponti and Renzo Piano, and the aviation and hydrofoil pioneer Enrico Forlanini.
