WSDM - pronounced “wisdom” - is the leading academic conference for research on web search, data mining, and related areas including recommendation systems, information retrieval, knowledge graphs, and computational advertising. It draws researchers from both academia and industry, with strong representation from major technology companies working on large-scale search and ranking systems.
The conference is selective, with acceptance rates typically in the 15-20% range across research and applied science tracks. Workshops and tutorials on the days surrounding the main program cover emerging topics in the field.
WSDM 2027 is held at the Cordis Hotel in Mong Kok, Kowloon, from February 15-19. Hong Kong is one of the best-connected cities in Asia for international travel, with Chek Lap Kok airport serving direct routes from across Asia, Europe, and North America. February is a pleasant time to visit - cool, dry, and uncrowded compared to the summer peak. The Cordis is directly above Mong Kok MTR station, placing attendees in one of the most densely urban and food-rich parts of the city.
