Smart City Expo World Congress is the largest dedicated smart cities event in the world, held annually at Fira Barcelona Gran Via in November. The 2026 edition runs November 3-5 and draws over 25,000 attendees from city administrations, mobility and infrastructure companies, sustainability organisations, and technology vendors. The programme spans urban mobility, energy and climate, governance and finance, digital infrastructure, and inclusion. Unlike most conferences in this list, SCEWC is primarily an industry and policy event rather than an academic one - it is where cities procure technology and where startups present to municipal buyers. The Fira Gran Via venue is one of the largest convention complexes in Europe, located in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat on the southwest edge of Barcelona, accessible by Metro L9 and the FGC Avant rail line.
