The Gateway Arch National Park and Museum is the obvious landmark - the tram ride to the top has views stretching 30 miles in each direction. The City Museum is an adult-friendly art installation and playground inside a converted warehouse that is unlike anything else in the US. Forest Park, site of the 1904 World’s Fair, contains the Saint Louis Art Museum, the Missouri History Museum, the Saint Louis Zoo, and the Muny outdoor amphitheatre, all free. The local food scene is known for toasted ravioli, provel cheese pizza, and a strong craft brewery scene in the Soulard and Benton Park neighborhoods.
St. Louis Lambert International Airport (STL) is about 14 miles northwest of downtown. The MetroLink Red Line light rail runs directly from the airport to downtown in about 35 minutes, making it one of the more convenient US airport-to-city connections.
MetroLink light rail has two lines serving downtown, Midtown, and Forest Park. The downtown core and Laclede’s Landing are walkable. Rideshare is widely available, and parking is easy and cheap compared to most US cities.
Spring (April-May) and autumn (September-October) are the most comfortable, with mild temperatures and lower humidity than summer. Summers are hot and humid; winters can be cold with occasional ice and snow.
