Salt Lake City is the capital and largest city of Utah, situated in a valley between the Wasatch Mountains and the Great Salt Lake. The city has grown as a technology and startup hub and hosts several major conferences annually at the Salt Palace Convention Center in downtown. Salt Lake City International Airport is well-connected to major US hubs and some international routes. The downtown convention district is walkable with a good concentration of hotels, restaurants, and bars along South Temple and Main Street. For attendees with extra time, the mountains are 30-45 minutes away - world-class ski resorts in winter and hiking in summer.
Temple Square is the center of the Mormon faith and architecturally striking, with the Salt Lake Temple and Tabernacle both impressive regardless of religious interest. The Natural History Museum of Utah at Rio Tinto Center has an outstanding dinosaur collection. The Great Salt Lake is 15 minutes from downtown and unlike anything else in North America. Park City (45 minutes) and Alta, Snowbird, Brighton, and Solitude ski resorts are all within easy driving distance for those with extra days.
Salt Lake City International Airport (SLC) opened a new terminal in 2022 and is about 6 miles west of downtown. TRAX light rail connects the airport to downtown in about 20 minutes, making it one of the more convenient US airport connections. The airport is a Delta hub with excellent connectivity.
The TRAX light rail system covers downtown, the University of Utah, and several suburbs, with the airport line running frequently. The Free Fare Zone allows free rides on TRAX and buses within the downtown core. Rideshare is widely available throughout the city.
Spring and autumn are ideal for city activities, with mild temperatures and clear skies. Winter (December-March) is excellent for skiing - world-class resorts are 30-45 minutes from downtown. Summers are warm and dry with very low humidity, making them comfortable for outdoor activities.

Staying between Temple Square and the convention center puts you within a few blocks of the venue and on the free-fare TRAX light rail zone. Downtown also has the most hotels and the best airport access, which is only about 15 minutes away on the TRAX green line.
