Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) is the main hub, with the FlyAway bus connecting to Union Station in about 40 minutes. LAX also connects to the regional Metro system via the new automated People Mover, with Metro K Line service to downtown and beyond.
Los Angeles is a driving city and most conference attendees will use Uber/Lyft or rental cars for getting around. LAX connects to the city via rideshare, taxis, or the FlyAway bus to Union Station. The Metro Rail system has expanded significantly - the A Line (Blue) connects downtown to Long Beach, and the E Line (Expo) runs to Santa Monica. The Los Angeles Convention Center in downtown is served by the Pico Metro station. However, many LA hotels and venues are spread across a wide area (Hollywood, Santa Monica, Beverly Hills, downtown) and public transit between them is slow. For SIGGRAPH and other downtown conferences, staying within walking distance of the convention center is the practical choice.
Los Angeles has one of the most reliably pleasant climates of any conference city. Year-round temperatures range from 18-28C in most months. May and June can bring the ‘June Gloom’ coastal fog pattern, especially near the beach. July to September are the warmest months (25-32C inland, cooler near the coast). October to April is typically clear and sunny with moderate temperatures - ideal conference weather. Rain is concentrated in December to March but is rarely heavy or prolonged. Wildfire smoke can occasionally affect air quality in late summer and autumn.

Downtown LA is the base for events at the Convention Center and is the most transit-connected area via Metro rail. For Westside venues, Santa Monica and Culver City are better positioned but a long drive from downtown. Budget extra time for any cross-town travel and lean on rideshare or Metro rather than driving.
