Lake Buena Vista United States

Lake Buena Vista is a small municipality almost entirely within Walt Disney World Resort in central Florida, about 30 km southwest of downtown Orlando. The city is home to Disney Springs, an open-air dining, shopping, and entertainment complex, and is surrounded by the resort hotels and convention spaces of the Walt Disney World Resort Area. Conference attendees benefit from complimentary Disney shuttle transportation between resort hotels and event venues within the property. The Hotel Plaza Boulevard runs along the northern edge of Disney Springs with several non-Disney hotels that provide easy walking access to the conference district and Disney Springs restaurants. Orlando International Airport (MCO) is approximately 25 minutes east by road, with excellent connections from across the United States and direct international flights from Europe and Latin America.

What to Do
  • Disney Springs - Free-admission entertainment district with over 150 dining and shopping venues, the House of Blues, and the AMC Theatre; directly adjacent to conference hotel areas.

  • Walt Disney World theme parks - Within the property, pre-booking tickets and Lightning Lane reservations is essential during busy periods.

  • Kennedy Space Center - About 60 km east, NASA’s visitor complex is one of the best science attractions in the US and makes an excellent conference day trip.

  • Universal Orlando - About 25 minutes north, with Wizarding World of Harry Potter and Epic Universe (opening 2025) as the main draws.

Getting There

Orlando International Airport (MCO) is the primary airport, about 25 minutes east by road or Disney Magical Express. The airport has direct flights from the UK (Virgin Atlantic, British Airways), continental Europe (Norse, Condor), and most major US hubs. Orlando Sanford International (SFB), about 50 km north, serves European charter flights and Allegiant routes.

Getting Around

Within Walt Disney World property, complimentary Disney buses connect all resort hotels to the major destinations. Ride-sharing is available but can be slow to enter the resort area. Car rental is practical for day trips to Orlando’s wider attractions. The area is not walkable beyond the immediate Disney Springs district.

Weather & Timing

January through March is the best time for conferences in central Florida: warm and dry (20-25C) with lower theme park crowds than summer. Summer (June-August) is hot, humid, and subject to afternoon thunderstorms.
