What to Do

The University of Michigan campus is one of the most architecturally impressive in the US and worth exploring on foot. The University of Michigan Museum of Art has a strong permanent collection and is free. The Kerrytown Market and Shops area has good independent food vendors and a Saturday farmers market. The Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and the Michigan Theater (a restored 1920s cinema) are locally popular. The local bar and restaurant scene around South Main and Washington streets is lively on game days.

Getting There

Getting Around

Ann Arbor is moderately walkable around the University of Michigan campus and downtown. The TheRide bus network covers the city, and rideshare is available though response times can be slower than in major cities. The Michigan Union and downtown areas are easily walkable from most campus hotels.

Weather & Timing

Late spring (May-June) and autumn (September-October) are the most pleasant, with warm days and fall foliage in October. Summers are warm and enjoyable. Winters are cold and snowy, particularly January-February, though the university keeps pathways clear.
